This sunflower came from my nephew's wedding. My mom planted it in her yard. This shot was taken when it was still green. It was very unusual looking.

Wow, this is the first time I've seen a sunflower so... green. Did you know that we use "green" as a synonym for "immature" or "unripe" in Brazil? It's because most of everything is green before becoming ripe.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was "nice texture", and the second was "this would be a great wallpaper for my laptop". So it seems I liked it. :D It's sharp, but without being too sharp. The flower hasn't lost that velvet look which is so often sacrificed when people get carried away and over-sharpen an image. I also like how you filled the frame with the flower, and the light is great (sunny day?). By the way, the light is apparently coming from the same direction the sunflower is facing. Do they already turn to face the Sun even when they're immature like this? I ask because I've only ever seen them fully grown.

Actually, it is (was) green because it was immature. It has the same meaning here. I think they do turn to the light even at this stage. Either that or I got lucky! I am honored that you would think this would make a great wallpaper!

I do think it would. No need to feel so honored, though :D I like my desktop wallpapers to be simple, look good and not distract me. Most of the time, I pick them up from DeviantART.

:wow: Michelle, I like it a lot. For one thing, I've never seen an immature Sunflower before so this is a first for me. I love all the shades of green! I think they're all there. :giggle: Lighting was very good so you have some nice texture and shadow going on here. At first, I thought the photo was grainy til I realized that's the texture of the flower. Nice capture and good eye for seeing it. :D

Oh, thanks so much for all the positive feedback! My mom could not believe I wanted to take a photo when it wasn't ripe yet. Eventually she admitted it was beautiful just as it was. Now it is drying on her back patio. :) Thanks for the fave too, I much appreciate it!

Photographers seem to have the ability to see interesting or beautiful things in the most ordinary or unattractive things to most people.

Thanks! That is a compliment to me.
I am trying to develop my ability to see beauty in the ordinary. Sure makes life more interesting. :)

I know you've seen images of nothing more than a window in a wall with red framework and maybe a potted flower or something? Most times they make awesome photos and I'm amazed by this. I'd walk right past that window and probably not even give it a second look. Some people can make ANYTHING look great.
